We attempt to respect everyone's reason for visiting Babcock State Park and attempt to accommodate everyone's experience, when possible. Still photographers, artists (drawing, painting, etc.), as well as the general public's aesthetic, acoustic, security, and privacy pleasures all are considered when experiencing a new user activity, such as drone photography.
The WV State Parks Section has a policy specifically addressing unmanned aircraft or "drones". Guidelines and policies attempt to protect the facility and the experiences of all of the parks visitors. This policy is based on the current State Park Rules and Regulations #2.7 and isn't a new regulation.
However, drone use at the Glade Creek Grist Mill is permitted daily from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. only. Drones may not fly over buildings or parking areas and must stay a minimum of 20 feet away from the grist mill. The only area that is restricted at Babcock State Park is the area at the Glade Creek Grist Mill, with the exception of these times.
